One year after protesters stormed inside the United States Capitol Jan. 6 with hopes to attack the country’s electoral process, host Stephen Henderson sits down with 14th District Michigan Congresswoman Brenda Lawrence to recount how it felt to be inside the Capitol during the insurrection. She also shares her thoughts on the divisive protests at the TCF Center in Detroit on election night 2020, and how the two events are connected.

Looking Back at 2021’s Best Guests and Stories

Plus, Stephen will take a reflective view on the last year of American Black Journal; all the great guests, stories and more. Supreme Court weighs whether federal law allowing emergency abortions overrides state bans
It was a charged atmosphere at the Supreme Court as justices heard arguments in a major abortion case. The court looked at whether a federal law requiring hospitals to provide abortion care in emergencies would apply to states with strict bans.
