Holiday Time Capsule: Detroit Historical Museum Features Hudson’s Exhibit

Tis the season to take a trip back in time for the holidays, and for Detroiters that may bring back memories of visiting Hudson’s Department Store downtown or at one of its suburban locations. The Detroit Historical Museum will display a Hudson’s Holidays exhibit throughout the museum with 11 different pop up displays, through Jan. 30, for nostalgic shoppers and newcomers alike to experience how it felt to shop at the historic Hudson’s downtown department store. Iconic toys, holiday decorations and architectural pieces from the downtown store are featured at the exhibit.

University of Michigan Choir performs “Considering Matthew Shepard”

One Detroit’s Zosette Guir sits down with University of Michigan Chamber Choir Conductor Eugene Rogers to discuss the choir’s recent performance of the oratorio “Considering Matthew Shepard.” Matthew Shepard was a 19-year-old gay college student attending the University of Wyoming who was brutally murdered. The choir’s performance displays a musical response to Shepard’s death, the hate crime, and his legacy. The production was filmed in partnership with the university’s School of Music, Theatre and Dance as well as the university’s Museum of Art.

Glass Blowing Artist Creates Holiday Ornaments

It’s hard to beat the mystical sparkle of blown glass ornaments twinkling on a holiday tree. Epiphany Studios Owner and Lead Artist, April Wagner, takes viewers into the art of blowing glass and gives the public an opportunity to create their very own blown glass creations.
