Curated by D.Cipher, the weekly Wednesday summer concert series now known as the Black Bottom Live Music Series continues the legacy of black artistry and community on the Dequindre Cut — the eastern border of the historic Black Bottom neighborhood, which was a mecca of Black families, the Black community, Black business, and Black music.
Entering into its sixth summer of bringing music and community together, the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy and D.Cipher kick the series off with our 3rd annual Juneteenth activation. This year’s theme “Profilic Blackness” invites us to celebrate the rich, abundant, inventive and luxuriant cultural foundations rooted in Blackness, identifying how we are preserving culture through collective activation honoring Black Bottom’s legacy and one another as we navigate these times through all of the ways we exist, shine, and thrive as a Black Diaspora in Detroit and beyond.
