It’s the last weekend of January, and a warmer weekend in metro Detroit. Here’s what’s coming up in and around the city. Dream of summer at the 2024 Detroit Boat Show at Huntington Place, find some wintry fun at Zehnder’s Snow Fest in Frankenmuth and don’t miss “Wicked” at the Detroit Opera House.

  • Check out some snow sculpting, ice carving and a fireworks display at Zehnder’s Snow Fest in Frankenmuth through Jan. 28. 
  • Catch two performances of Mozart’s “Jupiter” by the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra Jan. 26 at Orchestra Hall in Detroit and Jan. 27 at Michigan Theatre in Ann Arbor. 
  • See Country Music Hall of Famer Emmylou Harris, Old Crow Medicine Show, as well as the region’s local folk musicians at the 47th annual Ann Arbor Folk Fest on Jan. 26-27 at Hill Auditorium. Actor and musician Jeff Daniels will emcee both evenings.  
  • Get a little bit of summer in the dead of winter at the 2024 Detroit Boat Show at Huntington Place from Jan. 27 to Feb. 4. The show features a one-of-a-kind Barbie boat, a tiki bar and more. 
  • Don’t miss the award-winning musical “Wicked” at the Detroit Opera House through Feb. 18, where audiences will get a different look at the world of Oz.  
  • Listen to some Midwest folk-Americana music with The Wildwoods, a trio from Lincoln Nebraska taking the stage at 20 Front Street in Lake Orion.  
  • Join the Jurassic adventure of Dinosaur World Live at The Fisher Theatre Saturday, Jan. 27, an interactive show including the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Triceratops, Segnosaurus and more. 
  • Watch Floyd Production’s “Black Girl Therapy,” a stage play about Black women’s identity, at Marygrove Conservancy Saturday, Jan. 27.
