This weeks COVID313 Community Coalition Virtual Town Hall Meeting talk about education detailed the Detroit Public Schools Community District’s plan to give students internet connectivity and the devices to do work at home now and in school this fall.

In this highlight from the virtual town hall DPSCD Superintendent Nikolai Vitti and Cornerstone Schools’ Chief Academic Officer Lisa Key talk about preparations for summer school and how the distribution of internet friendly devices will shape those districts’ futures.

Another highlight from this week’s COVID313 Community Coalition Virtual Town Hall comes from lead attorney Tony Paris of the the Sugar Law Center in Detroit, who explains the ins and outs of applying for unemployment in a time where more than a million people have lost incomes because of COVID-19.

The state unemployment office has quickly expanded, but the big question for so many: when will that check show up.
