Felicia Wiseman, a union electrician in Detroit, is doing more than bringing down a healthy paycheck as Detroit rebuilds after decades of decline. She’s working to bring more African Americans and more women into the construction trades in a city where those groups are vastly underrepresented. As part of IBEW Local 58’s Electrical Workers Minority Caucus, she’s recruiting African American and Hispanic workers to join and get active while she teaches at the Detroit Public Schools Community District’s Randolph Career Technical Center.

Watch Felicia’s story during American Graduate: Journey to Jobs on Sunday, October 13, at 1:30pm ET on Detroit Public TV.

As a part of American Graduate: Getting to Work initiative, WPBT in Miami presented a story on LaunchCode, a local coding academy and job training program focused on making technology training accessible to underserved populations. Check it out here >
