Tonight on One Detroit:

  • Pre-Fab Construction:  Nolan talks with real estate developer Eric Larson about the pre-fab technology being used in the construction of The Corner, an apartment and retail complex Larson is building at the historic corner of Michigan and Trumbull in Detroit. The two talk about the pre-fab construction process, its efficiency, and how it offers an option to build with fewer skilled workers.
  • Goodwill Industries:  Detroit’s urgent need for skilled workers is one of the challenges being met by the Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit. Stephen sits down with Dan Varner, President & CEO of Goodwill Industries, to discuss the organization’s main focus — workforce development — and the population they serve.
  • The Commons:  In this report, Christy visits The Commons — a unique neighborhood gathering place on Detroit’s east side in the Islandview community.  It’s a community space that is bringing residents together over coffee and laundry.
  • Sarida Scott – Sarida Scott, executive director of the Community Development Advocates of Detroit (CDAD), joins Christy in the studio to talk about the ongoing community conversations that are connecting residents in Islandview and other neighborhoods with Detroit Public Television to tell their stories about Detroit’s future.
