Join the Alkebu-Lan Village on Thursday, September 28th at 5:30 p.m. for its September is Black Reading Month event. The theme for this year is “Authors, Awards, and Activism.” The Alkebu-Lan Village has an exciting lineup, including a Black reading panel featuring five local authors, a well-deserved literacy award presentation to Truth Bookstore for their continuous dedication to providing reading materials for our community since 1994, and an inspirational call to action from literary activist Jamarria Hall.
Plus, don’t miss out on the culturally rich refreshments by “Trini Gold.” The authors will also be offering autographed copies of their books. Additionally, Truth Bookstore has set up a store inside Alkebu-Lan Village, so be sure to come prepared to shop and stock up on your Black reading essentials. This event is free and open to the public.
