It’s a match made in food brand heaven.

Recently, Madison Heights-based Kar’s Nuts acquired Sanders Fine Chocolatiers. JC Rendl of the Detroit Free Press writes, “Two iconic Detroit-area food brands — Kar’s Nuts and Sanders — have united under the same ownership and plan to expand the reach of their snack and confectionery products to more store shelves.”

The Sanders brand, originator of the bumpy cake, was established in Detroit more than a century ago. Though the brand came upon hard times in the 1990s, it’s experienced a comeback and was purchased by the Morley Candy Makers in 2002.

In this clip, fans of the brand reminisce about hanging out at the Sanders lunch counter, the delicious ice cream sodas, and, of course, debate about how the Sanders name is really pronounced.
