This Week’s COVID313 Town Hall Features:

The new year is right around the corner, and the COVID313 Community Coalition Town Hall partners are in the spirit of sharing a bit of hope with its viewers. This week, viewers can hear an inspirational message heading into the new year. Plus, the town hall brings important COVID-19 children’s vaccine and school updates to parents and families.

First, Rev. Larry Simmon, pastor of the Baber Memorial AME Church, shares his thoughts on the perseverance and resilience of the human spirit during times of adversity like the COVID-19 pandemic.

Then, University of Michigan Medicine Virologist Dr. Oveta Fuller joins the COVID313 Community Coalition Townhall to provide an update on COVID-19 children’s vaccines and vaccination status in the metro Detroit region. She talks about vaccine studies for children under 5 years old, and the reasons why we’re still fighting off the pandemic.

Plus, Detroit Public Schools Community District Superintendent Dr. Nikolai Vitti provides an update on the district’s response to COVID-19, the Oxford High School shooting, and the anxiety that’s spurred by the two events. He shares more information about the holiday break and his to come back to school without disruptions to learning.

This will be the last COVID313 town hall of 2021. The next town hall will be on Jan. 13, 2022, and will continue every other Thursday, bi-weekly, at 12 noon ET.
