One Detroit and American Black Journal present
Corktown Solutions Roadshow
Watch February 20 at 7pm ET on One Detroit
How do neighborhoods balance the changes caused by economic investment with the need to retain their identity?
One Detroit and American Black Journal filmed a Solutions Roadshow January 15 at McShane’s Irish Pub & Whiskey Bar in Corktown.
Christy McDonald, Stephen Henderson and Nolan Finley got face to face with residents and community stakeholders from Corktown, North Corktown and Hubbard Richard to discuss the history of their neighborhoods, the outcomes produced by the community benefits process and what all this portends for the future.
- Raquel Castañeda-López, Detroit City Council, 6th District
- Sheila Cockrel, CEO, CitizenDetroit
- Tricia Talley, President, North Corktown Neighborhood Association
- Susie Garza, Owner, Tamaleria Nuevo Leon
These are communities on the cusp of change. We will learn how residents are reacting to a surge in new developments, like Ford’s mobility campus, and the solutions they propose to deal with the changes these projects will inevitably produce.
