A Harlem-based program that puts books in barbershops launches in Detroit. We’ll get details on how the initiative is aimed at improving literacy rates for African-American boys. Plus, the Detroit Chapter president of the National Association of Black Women in Construction talks about how her organization provides a voice — and opportunities – for females in a male-dominated industry. And, we’ll air a short documentary that’s making the rounds at local film festivals. It’s about a Detroit boxing coach who provides life lessons to the young students he trains.
