Detroit Public Theatre’s Performance of Thurgood in New Center Park

Detroit Public Theatre pays homage to the first African-American justice to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States, Thurgood Marshall, with the outdoor performance of the one-man show, Thurgood. Christy McDonald speaks to the show’s director, Steve Broadnax III, and a producing artistic director of Detroit Public Theatre, Sarah Clare Coporandy.

Southwest Detroit Singer/Songwriter Gabriel Duran

Gabriel Duran’s smooth R&B/Pop music is inspired by the culture and people of Southwest Detroit. Duran’s love for his community pushed him and other local artists to create the first SWFest in August of 2021. The festival put on 32 performances over three stages highlighting local Detroit artists. Will Glover caught up with Duran to discuss his music and the festival.
